Universities and Colleges in the Alabang, Muntinlupa Area

When we decided that my daughter has to change her college course and move to another school, we looked around for another school in Muntinlupa where we live and in nearby towns, hoping that we could cut her transportation costs and food costs and to cut her travel time and eliminate hassles.

We found that there’s only one university in Muntinlupa, and only a few colleges, with probably just one or three of them known by name outside the city.

The only university here is more known by its Tagalog name — Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Muntinlupa, and suffers in popularity compared to its neighbor, a unique type of university called the National Bilibid Prison. The most known among the city’s colleges is San Beda College, located in the Alabang Hills subdivision, which is probably called Hills because the houses there are as big as hills.

It’s not easy getting admitted to San Beda during the second sem, as one should have worked out the transfer papers and the exam before the first sem was over. Besides, San Beda is located where we usually say “so near and yet so far.”  Our commuting daughter would have to take three rides each way, the total daily cost of which is close to her previous Muntinlupa-Manila travel costs. Of course, San Beda’s tuition is another significant thing to consider.

We also considered schools outside Muntinlupa, which are accessible, such as those in San Pedro and Binan in Laguna, Las Pinas in Paranaque and Molino in Cavite.  In one of my dreams, we also considered Brent International School in Mamplasan, the one where Manny Pacquiao’s children are picking up their articulateness. But, alas, I woke up before I was able to pay the bill, which runs from 293,300 pesos to 462,676 pesos each year for kindergarten to 12th grade, in addition to the one-time fee of 127,080 pesos for each new student.  Buti na lang, walang college dito — kinder to pre-university lang. Kasi, kung meron, baka dito kami nag-enroll (still dreaming).

Anyway, here are the schools in Muntinlupa that you can consider:
