BPI, BDO, or Metrobank Fees — Why Keep Paying Them?
BDO Fees, BPI Fees, Metrobank Fees, Bank Fees in the Philippines
Bank fees of 10 pesos, 2 pesos, 1.50 pesos, 150 pesos — they add up.
Let’s avoid them.
Over the past months, my daughter accumulated a total deductions of 327.50 pesos
from her BPI Family savings account:
- two 150 pesos for allowing her maintaining balance to fall below 1,000 pesos for three consecutive months
- two 10 pesos for ATM withdrawal in other banks’ ATMs
- three 1.50 pesos for ATM inquiries in other banks’ ATMs
Same with me, I also accumulated a lot of 11-peso and 2-peso deductions
from my BDO savings account for ATM withdrawals in other banks’ ATMs. Obviously, we’re not good examples of what I’m writing about. But since I’ve seen the total deductions on printed paper, I’ve become more conscious about these fees.
My attention to bank fees was also heightened when an OFW in Italy wrote to ask about her BDO savings account which she left dormant. When she comes home this December, she will find that her more than 48K deposit, instead of increasing, has been reduced by about 1,600 pesos. A dormant BDO savings account is charged 200 pesos per month. (Update: BDO increased its dormancy fee to 300 pesos per month of dormancy in February 2011.)
Take note of the following common bank fees. All banks charge them. They just differ in amounts. Let’s avoid them.
1. ATM Fees for withdrawing in other banks’ ATMs
BPI withdrawal fee: 10 pesos
BPI inquiry fee: 1.50
BDO withdrawal fee: 11 pesos
BDO inquiry fee: 2 pesos
If you withdraw twice a week at another bank’s ATM, you would be
spending 80 pesos a month just for withdrawal.
2. Service Charge for Not Complying with the Maintaining Balance Requirement
BPI Family: 150 pesos
BPI: 200 pesos
BDO: 200 pesos (increased to 300 on Feb 1, 2011)
Metrobank passbook savings: 250 pesos
Metrobank ATM savings: 200 pesos
The maintaining balances are the following:
BPI Family ATM peso savings — 1,000 pesos
BPI Family passbook savings — 10,000 pesos
BPI ATM peso savings — 3,000 pesos
BPI passbook peso savings — 10,000 pesos
BDO ATM peso savings — 2,000 pesos
BDO Passbook peso savings — 5,000 pesos
Metrobank ATM peso savings — 2,000 pesos
Metrobank passbook savings — 10,000 pesos
Metrobank SSS pensioner — 200 pesos
These banks charge fees for two consecutive months of being below the maintaining balance.
3. Charges for Dormant Accounts
BPI and BDO: 200 pesos for every month of dormancy (BDO increased its dormancy fee to 300 on Feb 1, 2011)
4. Service charge for over-the-counter withdrawal for ATM-based Accounts
BPI — 100 pesos
No charge if ATM is off-line or if withdrawal amount exceeds the daily ATM withdrawal limit, which is 20,000 pesos
BDO – 100 pesos
The daily ATM withdrawal limit for BDO is higher — 50,000 pesos. If your account is ATM-based, you can’t withdraw over the counter unless you’ve already withdrawn 50K through the ATM or unless you pay the OTC withdrawal fee of 100 pesos.
5. Fees and Penalties for Returned Checks
Metrobank: 2,000 pesos plus 200 pesos per day for every 40,000 pesos and fraction
of check amount
BPI: 2,000 pesos plus 200 pesos per day for every 40,000 pesos and fraction of check amount

I miss the years, on my being here, when withdrawing from a bank was simple…Metrobank was my favorite that I even shared to others to use them. But, now that this year came and banks are more interested in making more money instead of helping clients, who could bring in other clients do to testimony, banks are only wishing to charge us more which makes life harder in the Philippines…not only are we charged an exchange rate but now an ATM fee.
My strong advise, which i even heard from an OFW who works in my country, we are better off to use Citibank where there is no ATM fee charges the only problem though is that in the area i am in they only let you withdraw by the 1,000 so if you are even one peso below a 1,000 that extra 999 wont be able to be reached which can go a long ways but it beats being charged all these fees as you listed on this page
Hi, Paul, it’s great if Citibank doesn’t impose ATM charges for withdrawals in other banks’ ATMs — I thought all banks impose ATM fees for ATM withdrawals in other banks’ ATMs. Wish you the best for your blog on social changes and corruption.
for example may friend in pangasinan wants to send me 500 pesos by depositing to my BPI account. Is there any fee’s for this?
Hi, John, kapag parehong metro area or province ang accounts, walang charge ang deposit. Example, within Metro Mla., kahit anong branch, walang charge ang deposit. Yes, your friend in Pangasinan will pay a charge (50 pesos, kung di pa nag-increase. puedeng 100 pesos na.) kasi province to Metro Mla. Ganon din pag Metro Mla to any province.
Think about it; the bank has use of all your money in the account while it is “dormant”. It earns money from their investments, yet they have the nerve to penalize you if you don’t use the account regularly. It’s all about GREED. and we, the public, tolerate it!
Hi Aaron, oo nga naman, you’re right. You gave me the idea of researching bank account dormancy penalties and its origins — why they need to impose penalty. Ganito rin ba sa U.S. and UK, I’ll check. Thanks Aaron.
hi just want to know…for ex. nangyare naging 100 nalang balance ko sa bpi then diko nakapagdeposit sa account ko sa end of the month ..so diba me kaltas yan 200 pesos? what will happen to my account..totally macacancel na ba un?
dear sir,
my account po me s phil bago po ako pumunta d2 s uk.check account at savings account.hindi q po magamit cheque account ky gusto q po close, tumawag po me s bank sb kylangan daw personal me pumunta.ngbigay din po me authorization s sister kaso d daw pwde…eh paano nga q nga po maiclose yon or update d n nga po m nkatira s phil.ano po pwde nyo advice,kc every month kinakaltasan yon deposit q s cheque account q,kc d rin dw pwde mahulugan…
paano po b mag-open ng remittance savings account in enternet?kc po malayo km s london at wl po me time mghanap ng bdo bank n mlapit s place nmin.
sn po matulungan u po me.
thanks
Hi Dionaly, puedeng hulugan ang any active bank account. Anong checking account type ba yong in-open mo? Kasi, sa BDO website, ranging from 5k to 100k yong maintaining bal depende sa type.
I-check niya yong Current. Magdagdag ka ng 300 or more para sa mababawas sa next month, or dagdagan mo ang deposit para yong average sa March ay ma-reach na yong maintaining bal.
About the remittance, later ha, have to do something.
hi nors thanks for the reply
Mga ibang banks, may cash card din sila. you can also check this http://www.workingpinoy.com/2010/05/cheap-ways-to-send-money-to-your-loved-ones-within-the-philippines/

hi, may atm account ako sa metrobank, pnrocess sya sa US which is ang maintaining balance e 200 pesos lang pinagawa ko lang dito sa pinas, what if for example, ung balance ko e nging 100 then it will be maintained for up to 3 months, anu po bang mangyayari dun? ung first day po ba na di ko namaintain ung balance up to the 3rd month nagkakaron po ba ako ng utang nun?
Hi John, I think na on the first day of the 3rd month ay ico-close na yong account mo, kasi negative balance na. 100 na balance minus 200 na fee = negative 100. US pensioner account?
Anyway, I’m not very sure about the closure ha, I based yong sagot ko sa experience ng daughter ko sa BPI. The account can be reactivated, according to BPI, but my daughter has to pay the below-maintaining fee for the 3rd,4th and 5th month.
i have an account in Metrobank and there are times na kapag naging below ang maintaining balance ng account mo they’ll charge you P250,i asked my branch where i do have a Metrobank account kahit daw 1 day lang babawasan pa rin ng banko yun kasi it’s a system regulator daw, kahit after ilang araw eh magdedeposit ka naman agad para hindi na nila bawasan ng service charge na 250…these banks are disgusting instead of helping the clients to save, they’re more interested to charge you just because your account is below maintaning balance.

hi nors! nalilito talaga sa monthly dormancy fee na yan..i’ve been researching na for two hours until i came upon your blog..am really hoping you could make me understand better..I just opened a bpi savings account last month with a maintaining balance of 3k..i’ve deposited 5k pra sana maka earn ako ng interest rate nila and i paln to keep it that way pra pang emergency or convenience sana pro i just found out that they charge 200pesos for monthly dormancy..ano yun..ibig sabihin b pg one month di ko ginalaw yung funds ko kakaltasan nila akon ng 200psos??? ganun po b yun? ano p purpose ng pg open account ako eh di sana bumili n lng ako alkansya tpos ibaon ko sa likod ng bahay namin!!
Hi api, siguradong may error somewhere. Ang dormancy is 2 years na walang transaction. Ike-credit nila uli yon. Hope you can share later on what happened.
I also find some other fees charged by BDO are rediculous.
- When somebody deposit money to my account without my passbook, they would charge P5O.
- When I sent money by telegraphic transfer from Hong Kong to my BDO in Philippines. I already paid TT fees to HSBC. When BDO received the fund, they would deduct P900 for just receiving it. I sent it in Peso, not USD or HKD. No conversion needed.
- When I receive a small amount from overseas ebay buyer, it was paid to my Paypal account. I transferred it from Paypal account to my BDO account. Paypal charged P50. Again, BDO charged P200 for just receiving it.
Thanks!
Hi Gilbert, thanks for informing us about these charges. Na-intrigue ako sa 50 pesos deposit fee if without passbook, tsaka yong wire transfer fees na double. Yumayaman talaga ang BDO. Are you far from BDO remittance partners in HK? Kasi sabi sa BDO website, 20 HK$ if credited to a BDO account in pesos and 28 to 30 if in $. Hindi ko lang alam kung sa exchange rate naman sila mababa to compensate for the low remittance fee. Yong sa Paypal, try mo nga ang BPI, kasi yong last Paypal transfers ko, hindi nag-deduct ang BPI ng fee, na sabi ng iba is 150 pesos. Hope you share again your remittance experiences. Thanks, and best regards.
Hi Nors, thanks for your information. I am happy to see this thread. So, I can voice out my irritation with BDO charges. Actually, I am a HK Chinese working in Philippines for around 10 years already. I got married with a Filipina with two kids. Now, I need to return to HK soon with my family staying here. I am thinking about what is the best way to remit money from HK with lesser charges. Before, I transferfred my money from my HK HSBC bank account to BDO account here. Very convenient I can do it in HSBC HK website by telegraphic transfer. At that time, I remit it in USD. BDO here deduct a big amount. I forgot how much, but it is even bigger than P900 for last time remittance in Peso.
For past few years, I find it cheaper to withdraw my money from HSBC HK account in HSBC branch here in Philippines. Around HK$20 or HK$30 per withdrawal and no more additional charges in Philippines. The maximum amount of each withdrawal in Makati main office and MOA branch is P40,000.
In the future, what is the cheapest way to remit money here? I am thinking of using Western Union. Do you know the rates? You mention about remittance partners for BDO in HK. Where can I find the listing and its addresses.
Thanks for advice regarding paypal! As I am moving to HK, I will use the banking in HK for paypal. It should be free or cheaper.
Thanks, Gilbert, also for the additional info. I’m sure some readers will benefit from it. It’s good you found a much cheaper way, and I think it’s already a good way to remit money. In another thread here, a number of OFWs in China also remit money by just sending China-issued ATMs to their families here so they can withdraw from Union Pay-enabled ATMs here at 200 pesos per withdrawal.
But if the BDO Remit partners in HK charge HK$20 to 30 for remittance amounts above 40K, then this BDO Remit way is better. Here are the BDO Remit offices/partners in HK Best regards.
By the way, Gilbert, it’s MoneyGram which has partnered with BDO, and I think MoneyGram rates are lower than those of Western Union, but I’m not sure — their rates should also range between HK$20 and 30, otherwise they’ll be beaten by competition, considering that there are a lot of HK-Phil remittance services now.
Oh my God! Nors, thanks so much for your fast information! It is very useful! I know the branch in Lik Sang Plaza Tsuen Wan. I passed by there everyday before when I was still working in HK. It may be around 45 mins ride from my home. Not really so far.
HK$20 or HK$30 charge is so cheap for overseas remittance. It is easy to convert HKD to Peso in other banks. In case, if their exchange rate is not good, do you think that I can pay the remitted amount in Peso and the handling charge in HKD? Just hope that their exchange rate would not be “too much” lower than the banks.
Another side question! If I transfer money from my BDO saving account to another person BDO saving account through BDO ebanking, how much is the charge?
Thanks so much!!
Gilbert, the way you say your thanks is inspiring. Thanks. I hope the BDO Remit offices/partners there accept pesos, I don’t know if they do. Hope you’ll inform us, if you have time later on. About the BDO to another BDO account transfer via online, there’s no charge as long as the accounts are opened in the Phil (to be sure, both accounts within MM). If I were working abroad, I’d open 2 accounts in the same bank here in my name, keep one set of ATM/passbook for myself for remittance, give the other set to my family, enroll both accounts in Internet banking, so I can control my money transfer without costs and monitor how my family withdraws money. The remittance fee would only be for the money transfer to my main account.
I am very happy with Unionbank. They are the most technologically savvy bank. I have an EON debit card and I do all my transfers online. They do not charge any amount for Unionbank account transfers and only charge a minimal amount of 10 pesos to transfer funds to another bank. They also do not charge for receiving funds from other banks through the internet.
Thanks Nors! I really appreciate your advice and fast reply. I would update here once I try to pay Peso to remit here through MoneyGram, but it maybe few months later.
Your suggestion is good for keeping two BDO accounts. As my family has BDO account in the same branch, I may not need to take this approach. It is true that we cannot leave all the money to the family and we need to monitor how they would withdraw it.
Thanks again! Have a Good Day!!
Hi, Would like to know if you have idea which bank has the best rate for Foreign Exchange.. I mean buying and selling of dollar. ( BDO, Metrobank, Chinabank ) Thank you..
Would also like to inquire which bank is the fastest to apply credit card… I applied for citibank, bdo, BPI pero super tagal … Thank you..
***
And tips sana how to save money…
Hi Genie, mas marami ka pa yatang alam when it comes to saving money hehehe. Siguro kung buying dollar, sa BDO na kasi yong rate nila, yon din yong sa SM, at pinipilahan naman yong sa SM, so it means okay naman yong selling exchange rate nila. Pero, if you want a little bit more, sa Sanry’s or Czarina money changers, mas mataas ang rates nila ng konti kesa sa SM.
One month or more, depende sa documents na isinubmit mo. Faster approval if you have another credit card na matagal na or if you have an account with the bank. HSBC ang alam kong mabilis mag-approve. Ewan ko lang ngayon. My advice is if you feel na impulsive buyer ka, or mahilig ka sa shopping, huwag ka na lang kumuha ng credit card, baka mabaon ka lang sa debts. But if you know you’re responsible, yong BPI or BDO sana ang makuha mo kasi meron silang mga features na puede mong paliitin yong monthly interest rate mo for tuition, etc. If you’re a new employee, very young, huwag muna credit card. Saka na lang. Enjoy your life muna via cash.
Ask ko lang po, kasi i have ATM card sa METROBANK ko po. How much po ang charges ng ATM Fees for withdrawing in other banks’ ATMs?
Thank you tlga for this website. I have learned a lot.
Hi Jen, wala akong makitang list of ATM withdrawal fees sa Metrobank site. Mga 11 to 12 pesos, siguro, kasi ganyan ang charge ng ibang banks for witdrawing in other banks’ ATMs. Thanks for your encouraging comment.
Thanks for the info. Glad to see a vibrant online Pinoy community too. Mabuhay!
Hi Nors, I am now in Hong Kong already. Today, I make my first money transfer to my BDO account in Philippines. There are more choices of BDO Remit partners/offices in MoneyGram website. I choose one in Yuen Long nearer to my home.
The handling charge is fixed at HK$20. I pay additional HK$10 to apply for a gold card. It is more convenient for future transaction. But I need to come back one or two week to pick up the gold card. They would give a better exchange rate for gold card. But the staff doesn’t say how much is the difference.
The money transfer need to be paid in HK dollars, even if you have Peso. I don’t know the difference in exchange rate as compared with other money changers/remittance offices or banks. I haven’t made any comparison. The rate used today is HK$0.1869158 to Peso 1 (or HK$1 to Peso 5.35). Seem reasonable.
I made the money transfer around 5pm. The staff said that it passed the daily cut-off time of 3 pm. My BDO account would receive the money tomorrow. But I check my account online awhile ago at around 10 pm. The money is received already. I am satisfied with this service. Thanks again, Nors!
Hi Gilbert, thanks for the load of useful information. You’re really resourceful too, as you explored online the MoneyGram locations there, and the Gold card. You seem to be on a roll, with your money transfer pushing through faster than expected. These are the levels of customer services that we appreciate. Thanks again, Gilbert, for taking the time to share — very useful info — and more power for all your endeavors.
Hi Susan, sorry I see only now that I haven’t responded to your relevant and useful comments. Better late than never. I was an EON card holder too when my previous firm used Union Bank. Sadly, I wasn’t able to convert the payroll card into a personal account. Yes, you’re right, Union Bank is doing what other banks aren’t doing yet, such as Union Bank transfers to other banks (BPI though has started with its mobile banking transfers), Paypal transfers, Paypal verification, online payments, wow!) Parang gusto kong mag-EON uli, para mas authentic pag magsulat ako about it.
Thanks again Susan.
Hi Nors, you’re welcome. The information that you have provided before is really useful. So, I can save some money on the handling charge and the transaction is really fast.
dear sir…
i was wondering if you can enlighten me on annual fee charge…my account has been suspended since 2005. I have been paying the monthly minimum amount required ever since but i have been charged annualy of the membership fee.
Is it legal to charge annual fee for suspended account? From my understanding, this service fee is being charged only for active accounts. thanks… God bless..
Hi Jun,
I would like to share my experience also. I still have some outstanding balance with BDO credit card. I am paying partially every month. I don’t want to pay the whole amount in one short. As I am now in HK, I would not use the BDO credit card anymore. Therefore, I contact BDO customer service through leaving message in their site. Two suggestions provided from their e-mail reply. Downgrade my Gold mastercard to Shopmore card. So, I would pay lower annual/monthly fee.
Or, cancel my credit card, but can continue to pay outstanding balance of the card monthly. When I tried to call them to confirm about the second approach. They told me that I can cancel my card, and continue to pay the balance partially every month. But I still need to pay the annual fee. If that’s the case, what is the point for me to cancel the card. Kind of similar to your question.
Let’s wait for any comment from Nors.
Hi Gilbert, thanks for commenting again. I guess your situation is much better since you’re paying much more than the monthly minimum, so I suppose you’ll be able to fully wipe out your balance soon. I know you can even pay it straightaway if you like. Jun has been paying only the minimum since 2005, and when will the payments stop? I scanned through the BSP regulations about credit cards quickly, and I can’t find anything about annual fees for suspended cards other than saying that generally all fees are okay as long as they’re disclosed to the cardholder at the time of application. My understanding is that the annual fees continue to be charged because to the bank, the card account is still ‘active’ due to the unpaid balance, although to the cardholder, it’s already suspended or canceled. Best regards.
Yes, I am paying more than the monthly minimum. Few months later, it would be fully settled. I understand minimum payment involves big portion go to the interest. It would really take several years to fully pay.
Pag merong natirang balance, mababawasan siya ng 200 pesos at the end of the 2nd month, another 200 at the end of the 3rd month and so on hanggang maubos at maclose. Pag widrohin mo at ibalik mo rin agad in a few days, okay pa rin siya. If you like, ATM savings account ka muna sa BPI Family — maintaining nito is only 1k.
Lourdes
Hi Lourdes, what do you mean? Direct transfer ng pera from Metrobank to BDO or vice versa? Sori, hindi puede. Kelangang magwidro sa isang bank, and then ideposit sa other bank. Technically, puede yong wire transfer from one bank to a different bank, pero hindi naman practical yon sa parehong local banks.
Hi,
Hi Jackie, you’re right, puede mong ubusin sa store na merong ATM payments.
Hi Nors, I was just looking for a reviews kung anong mas maganda BDO or BPI then I napunta ako sa Blog mo. Thanks for sharing it with us. BDO Bank ako and so far wala pa naman ako nagiging problema. Mahal kung sa mahal at unfair but then what can we do halos ata ng bank sa mundo ganito. They do not really care about the clients they just want to milk money from us. Anong maadvice mo regarding Citibank? Para kasing gusto ko ng magpalit ng bank from BDO to Citibank. Kahit dito sa lugar ko ngaun me Citibank eh.
Hi Helena, thanks for your kind comments. Check mo kaya UAE Exchange. About Citibank, I’ll check later, baka mas mataas ang maintaining balance nito. Best regards
Meron ditong post about Savings Accounts for OFW Remittances at saka
Savings Accounts in the Philippines with the Lowest Maintaining Balances About savings, mababa lang ang interest ng savings — wala pang 1% sa isang taon. Pero you can save and then pag meron nang 50K, i-time deposit mo, although mababa pa rin, pero a bit higher. Magandang mag-bank sa reputable bank near your house, school or work, para madaan-daanan mo lang, lagi kang magdedeposit. BDO, BPI, BPI Family, Metrobank, RCBC, PSBank…etc. Meron ding mga savings accounts na high-yield or meron pang insurance – these have higher minimum balances, such as 30k up. Yong Pag-ibig 2, baka gusto mo.
I share your woes regarding banking fees.
Between BDO and BPI, I find the latter to be more convenient. I have a BPI Direct Express account which allows withdrawals of up to P50,000 daily and a very small average maintaining balance of P500 only. Depositing check payments from other banks does not entail handling fees.
Although BDO is literally everywhere, I do not like the fact that it charges interbranch fees for each transaction. Meaning if I send money to 3 different BDO accounts from 3 different provinces in one go, I end up paying P50 each or a total of P150 as add-on handling fee.
Hi, wanna know if there’s a charge for onLy checking account baLance thru internet banking..If yes how much? Tnx God BLess pLease advise…I just enroLLed internet banking at Bdo.
Hi Ga, internet banking is free. Balance inquiry, enrollment of another account, transfer of money to another enrolled account, bill payment, password change, etc. are free.
Hi teecup, thanks for your very helpful info. Great that you’re exploring things to save on fees. That’s being wise. I was about to get an EON before, but I read a comment about EON’s withdrawal charges for the 3rd and succeeding (?) ATM withdrawal in a month. But thinking again about it now, isn’t it that online transfer to any account is free? So EON might be another good alternative for Paypal withdrawal, without considering Paypal’s low exchange rate.
Kung i-close mo ang account mo within 1 month after opening, merong ibabawas.
Of course, maganda kung dinadagdagan mo.
I never worked at BPI hahahaha, meron akong BPI and BPI Family accounts. I’ve also opened BPI accounts for my daughter na nako-close kasi nagagasto niya pati maintaining balance. And BPI has a good website. Tanong ka lang, and I’ll try to answer, basta I have time.
Ask ko lang po, my previous balance in BDO on january 5 was about 3,400 php and when I was about to withdraw this day which is january 22 bigla nlng po naging 2900 po natira. .
T_T
OO,walang syang passbook,Para saan iyong tax?
Thank you for replying
Baka may passbook ka, which requires 5k to maintain it. Kung ATM account naman and you can’t think of a reason why your balance was reduced by 500 (halimbawa you forgot na nagdebit ka sa supermarket), call BDO hotline 631-8000 and ask.
Hi Peter, 20% withholding tax sa interest gained by your savings. About dagdag, I mean, mas mabilis kang makaipon kung you deposit more frequently. 10k, great na umpisa na yan.
Di ko magets yung sa tax hahahaha
DDDDDD
Example, yong 10k na deposit mo for 3 months, puedeng ang interest na na-gain niya after 3 months is 12.50 pesos.
Landbank lang ata ang walang dormancy charge unless mag fall below ka sa adb requirements. it’s very unfair for banks to charge you dormancy fees for not having any transactions in your account even if you maintain your adb requirements.
the most convenient bank for me is BPI. No charges on inter-branch deposits and you can withdraw/encash (bpi checks) at any branch also without charges.
For OFW’s remitting money. you can try bpi pick up anywhere. there’s no transaction fees on both sender and receiver of money. they just use a slightly lower exchange rate. the down side here is you receive the money in pesos and not in the original currency it was sent.
Hi Jeff, thanks a lot for your helpful info. It’s great if that’s Landbank’s dormancy policy. About BDO’s dormancy policy, I can try to understand the dormancy charge; what I can’t is if there’s no way an OFW can reactivate his dormant account while abroad. There are 4 or 5 OFWs who have commented here that they need to appear in person to reactivate their account. I’ve suggested they email BDO to ask for a way since “they find ways”; so far, no one has written back. About BPI pick up, I don’t know that BPI has this no-fee remittance service. Others charge a remittance fee, in addition to using a lower exchange rate. Thanks again, Jeff, best regards.
Walang passbook? Congrats Peter at you have started saving. Grow it, para later on mag-time deposit ka. In a few years, malaki na ang pera mo. Keep on! So glad for you.
BPI ako nag open,Tapos ATM lang walang passbook,
And Thank you nga pala sa Response
Ang bilis mo laging sumagot, Keep up the good work
Hi Tina, ang alam ko, meron ka lang overdraft privilege kung meron kang automatic transfer of funds (ATA) arrangement with overdraft privilege. Ang mangyayari, kapag hindi mo nadagdagan yong funds mo sa CA mo para ma-cover yong check amount, magba-bouncing check siya or returned check due to insufficient funds. Mape-penalize ka, I don’t know kung how much sa BDO. Sa BPI at Metrobank kasi, 2k plus. Call BDO hotline and ask how much is charge for returned check due to insufficient funds.
Either pababayaran sa iyo yong monthly penalty times no. of months, or di na puede reactivate.
Good morning po!
Pakiusapan mo na reopen, and you’re willing to pay the penalty.
Hello po ulit! Thank you po dun sa advise niyo last Feb. 9, I was able to reopen my BPI Savings account and na-received ko din po that day yung sweldo ni hubby (hehe!) sorry po late pasasalamat, been busy especially sa mga kiddos ko
I’m doing an online inquiry wala pa pong pumapasok. Thank you po ulit!
Hi Rio, glad that your account is OK now. Wire transfers usually take 3 to 5 days, or more pa ang iba. Great kung 2 days lang sa iyo. Hope andiyan na ngayon or bukas. If you like, you can tell your brod-in-law there are BDO remittance partners in Ireland. Best regards
I’ve been trying to find information about this one thanks… As per my experience i have an account in BPI but no info about this deductions.
Thanks, Dio, for commenting.
hello.
do you have any idea how much ang remittance charges now? i have a dollar savings account in bdo it seems ang laki na ng charges nila last january its 100$+ and now 80$+
or may ma isa-suggest po ba keong bank na mas okay mag padala ng remittance.
salamat po.
Hi pebbles, I’m surprised you’re paying such big amounts for remittance! You’re using a proxy IP, so I can’t check where you’re located para sana I can give some estimates. And depende rin sa gamit mong remittance service. Sa Xoom, about $14 ang remittance fee for $850. f you’re in the U.S., try ExpressSend of Wells Fargo. Look for BDO Remit partners. Best regards
hello ma’am,
im working in africa and the corresponding bank to transmit money was located in paris.
my salary is send directly in manila via bank to bank transfer. here my employer also pay the bank charges and upon receiving in manila, bdo also collect some charges.
im confuse regarding to their charges now, last year it’s only between 20-30$.
meron po ba keo ma isa-sauggest kung anong bank may mas mababang charges when receiving remittance from abroad.
maraming salamat po.
Hi pebbles, maybe that’s why the total transfer charge is high because there are more than 2 banks involved (African bank, bank in France and a BDO correspondent bank, as BDO doesn’t have a correspondent bank in France). BPI has correspondent banks in France. Also in South Africa, if you’re in SA. So you’ll save on fees if you send your wire transfer to BPI. Puedeng pick-up, puedeng deposit. If you don’t have an account with BPI, you can open while there in Africa via BPI Direct Savings. Go to bpidirect.com and check the instructions. Or of course, your family can open a BPI account here.
By the way, pebbles, there’s also a PNB Europe in Paris and there are also Metrobank correspondent banks in France, so these 2 banks are also good options.
Ang bawas magsimula sa the end of the 2nd month, hanggang ma-maintain mo uli. Kung hindi mo sure ang finances, iwidro mo na lang lahat, at mag-open ka ng ATM account with a lower maintaining balance — sa BPI Family, merong 1k. Sa BPI Direct, 500. Or yong ATM savings ng Metrobank — 2k.
As in monthly po ba ang bawas?
What date in 2009 was your last transaction? savings account ito? If yes, 2 years without any transaction bago ma-dormant ang account. Punta ka na sa Metrobank ngayon with your passbook, at sabihin mo pa-update. Bring valid IDs, kasi dormant na nga ito, so you will reactivate it.
Sa time deposit, wala namang penalty for early withdrawal, huwag lang within 30 days after placing the time deposit. Palampasin mo muna ng 31 days. Ang mangyayari, if you withdraw around 32nd day or further, babawiin lang nila yong higher interest rate — magiging regular savings rate, which is lower than 1 percent.
Bring 2 valid IDs at two 1×1 photos. Walang maintaining balance ito at puedeng lagyan ng up to 100k. Yong has-name-on-card, up to 25k ang puedeng balance, pero babalikan mo after 3 or 7 days (depende sa policy nila ngayon).
By the way pala, para makuha mo na lang agad yong pera, ask na lang your mother to go back to where she remitted and change her remittance mode to cash pick-up over the counter at BDO.
Please I need your help.
Meron ditong similar case na nag-comment this year, BDO rin, at nare-open niya, at nacredit yong remittance. Option 2: Your mom goes back to where she remitted, and changes her remittance mode to Cash Pickup sa BDO, over the counter. Option 3: BDO Remit, activated siya usually after 24 hours. Ask mo na lang para sure. Then your mom corrects her remittance info.
)
Bring your IDs.
