BDO Kabayan Savings Account for OFWs
This is a special savings account for OFWs and their families in the Philippines.
You can open this account at any BDO branch in the Philippines, or with certain BDO remittance partners abroad.
- Can be in pesos or in U.S. dollars
- Initial deposit: 100 pesos for peso account
100 US dollars for US dollar account - Present 1 valid photo ID and one 1×1 ID picture
(The bank officer might ask for a second valid ID) - The bank officer might ask for proof that you’re an OFW (passport, foreign ID, job contract, etc.).
- If you’re an OFW dependent, the bank officer might ask for a receipt of recent foreign remittance from your family member or relative abroad.
- You will be issued a passbook and ATM debit card
- For Seafarers: Initial deposit is only 10 US dollars
Account is called BDO Kabayan Shipping Dollar Account
Present one valid photo ID, your valid Seaman’s book, and one 1×1 ID picture. - For Seafarers employed by POEA-accredited companies, you can ask your company to credit your allotment directly to your BDO Kabayan dollar account.
- No maintaining balance requirement as long as you make AT LEAST ONE foreign remittance every 24 months. Noon, every 12 months. Starting October 1, 2018, hinabaan nila ang time frame for at least one foreign remittance.
If there’s no foreign remittance within 24 months, your BDO Kabayan Savings Account will be automatically converted to a regular ATM account with a required maintaining balance of 2,000 pesos.
Penalty for having less than 2,000 pesos in monthly average daily balance for 2 consecutive months: 300 pesos per month - You can qualify for a free life insurance if you satisfy these conditions:
– The sender is 18 to 65 years old and currently working.
– The insured can be the sender, or the sender’s spouse, parent, sibling or child.
– Maintain at least 25,000 pesos in your Kabayan savings account.
– Send or receive at least 6 foreign remittances every 12 months.
– Register for this free life and insurance program if you plan to have this benefit. - If you have a BDO Rewards card, you can earn points from your savings and remittances.
- If you’re paying a home loan, a car loan or an insurance plan, you can ask BDO for automatic payment through the BDO Auto-Debit Arrangement (ADA) service
- If you save big amounts monthly in your BDO Kabayan account, you’re can later on use your account to support your application for a car loan, home loan or business loan.

BDO Remit Cash Card for OFWs
This card is similar to the regular BDO Cash Card, but it is a special cash card for OFWs. You can get this card only abroad — in selected BDO accredited remittance companies. There are numerous BDO Remit offices, partners and agents worldwide, particularly in countries where there are a lot of OFWs.
This also has a higher load balance and deposit limit, compared to the regular BDO Cash Card. While the regular cash card can contain only 10,000 pesos and 25,000 pesos at a time, BDO Remit Cash Card can be loaded with up to 100,000 pesos at a time.
You can send money directly to this BDO Remit Cash Card account.
How can I check my BDO remittance while abroad?
You can check the status of your BDO remittance here: BDO Remit Status Inquiry. Enter your BDO Remit reference or transaction number. You can use this only for your remittance sent through BDO Remit or BDO remittance partner.
If your ATM card has a Mastercard or Visa logo, and if you have changed your ATM PIN while in the Philippines, you can make a Balance Inquiry at an ATM with Mastercard/Maestro/Cirrus or Visa logo in the country where you are. Balance inquiry fee is 1 US dollar. ATM withdrawal fee is $3.50
