Hi, Adette, your sis and dad don't need to have Kabayan accounts to be able to send money to a Kabayan account. My niece in the U.S. sends money to her mom's BDO Kabayan account thru remittance firms like Xoom, etc. Ask your sis and dad to compare exchange rates and fees and look for company stability when choosing remittance firms. I'll ask for some more info.

Hi Donny, if your Philippine rep has an account with BDO, BPI or any other major Philippine bank, he or she can buy dollars from any of these banks and then send them to you through wire transfer, seeing to it that he/she performs these activities within the same facility to lessen the risk of robbery or loss.
To make sure, because sometimes bank policies change from time to time, ask you Phil rep to ask his bank about buying dollars and sending them through wire transfer before your real estate sale occurs.
On the website of BDO, it says that wire transfers of unlimited amounts are allowed for dollar accounts and for those enrolled in Internet banking. When I asked a BDO rep at a branch, she said there are limits to over-the-counter transfers, depending on the purpose of transfer and IDs presented.
A Western Union rep said it charges $18 for every $1,000 transfered from Phil to U.S. (pickup). She's not sure about the limit, but she says it could be 500,000 pesos or roughly $10,800. If you're considering Western Union, choose a Western Union carrier that also sells dollars with a good rate and in a safe place, like inside big malls, or inside a secured office.
The best way is, of course, for your Phil rep to make inquiries himself to be sure. I could be wrong.
We also sold our lot recently, and before we received the money, we scouted the nearest BPI or BDO to which we could immediately deposit the cash, to be safe.

Hi, Mary Cris, based sa pinadala ng niece ko dati, oo, in pesos na, doon yata sila kumukuha ng additional kita. Mas mura ang charge pero lower yong conversion rate, but not sure now. Hingin mo yong tracking number mo from sender, mata-track mo yong padala mo sa website ng xoom kung nasaan na yong padala.

Hello, heizel, thanks a lot for the info. Certainly, you answered the BDO-related questions which I wasn't able to answer promptly because I had to attend to some personal concerns.
